On August 6, 2015 Unit Drop Forge Production Manager Richard "Dick" Traudt reached an historic milestone as he marked his 50th Anniversary with the Company. Dick started his career in 1965 at what was then the Forge Division - Milwaukee Plant of Eaton Corporation. Unit Drop Forge Co., Inc. was formed under new, private ownership in 1979 when Eaton divested the Milwaukee plant. It remains a privately held corporation today under the same ownership group. With the origins of the Company dating back to 1918, Dick has been a part of it for over half of its entire history! Unit Drop Forge has a tradition of long-term employment, with many employees retiring with 30, 40, and more years of service with the Company. Although no official records are available, it is thought that Dick may well be the first UDF employee to ever reach the 50-year milestone. At an office celebration honoring Dick, he commented that, "It's been a good place to work." On behalf of the Company and his co-workers, President & General Manager Ron Janzen honored him with a gift card and an inscribed statuette of a blacksmith forging a golf club! While Dick is an avid golfer, he has no immediate plans to spend even more time on the links, and will be back at work tomorrow to ensure our customers' expectations are met.
